The Greene County varsity basketball teams split road games in Saydel Friday.
Freshman Trey Tucker led the boys team to a 68-65 victory, scoring 34 points, including five 3-point shots. He was seven for eight at the free throw line. The win halted a four game losing streak. The boys are now 2-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and overall.
The girls lost 35-45. Jolee Wessling and Kayla Mobley scored seven points each and Hannah Onken scored six. “This was a disappointing loss,” said girls coach Chad Morton. “We didn’t rebound well, take care of the ball or shoot the ball well. I know that is a long list of negatives, but it is true. We should be able to rebound and take care of the ball better. These things we have control over.”
The girls are now 5-4 in the HOIAC and 5-5 overall.
